Background

In keeping with the growth of the Chinese market, Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. founded Murata (China) Investment Co., Ltd. in December 2005 to control and integrate the activities of its sales sites in Greater China Region. Since then, MCI has worked out regional strategies, strengthened collaboration among Murata sites in the region, provided support for these sites, and developed sales promotion initiatives. The regional head office has also been responsible for integrating logistic and information systems and increasing their efficiency as well as for operations related to personnel, communications and legal affairs.

In May 2009, Murata (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Murata Electronics Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a sales subsidiary, were transferred to the new head office building, followed by SyChip Electronic Technology (Shanghai) Ltd. in June. These office relocations have brought together three functions of the Murata Group in Shanghai—head office operations for the Greater China Region, sales, and engineering—under one roof.

To meet customer needs for design support, Murata is now constructing a microwave darkroom building at a site adjacent to the new head office. The new building is scheduled for completion at the end of May 2010.

The opening of the new head office building will help Murata expand its operations in Greater China Region even further through an even longer-term perspective of the Chinese market and by offering technical support using the new microwave darkroom facility.
